The design of this project derives from the strategy used in “Carving Curves”, smooth, curving forms puncturing boxed spaces. However, for this site, the strategy was rotated 90 degrees. This simple move forced me to reconsider the design in exciting ways. The boxes then become the main programmatic spaces while the curves were meant for structure, circulation, and visual connections. The project also explores blackboard paint as a public magnet and graffiti alternative.
