This third-year project was a housing development for the formerly homeless in New York City. Our approach to the project brief was to design a building that fostered community, safety, and a feeling of belonging in a city and society that has shunned them. We developed a form that emphasized community through visual connections, creating many connected balconies and valleys through which people can see their neighbors and feel like they are a part of a new rehabilitating ecosystem.
